At the Kaduna State Investment Summit in Kaduna on October 15, 2022, APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu said Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai's “resiliency in turning a rotten situation into a bad one is necessary at this critical time.”
In a tongue-in-cheek social media post shortly after the video emerged, I wrote: "Tinubu said El-Rufai has the capacity to turn "a rotten situation into a bad one."🤣 Was that a Freudian slip, a targeted missile, or an innocent verbal mishap? I see why Tinubu avoids the media like the plague."
Within hours of my post, Bayo Onanuga, a storied journalist who's now Tinubu's presidential campaign spokesman, said Tinubu's description of El-Rufai as someone who "turned a rotten situation into a bad one" was "a mere Freudian slip." Ha! Does he not know what a Freudian slip is?
A Freudian slip is a mistake that unintentionally reveals an uncomfortable truth. In other words, Tinubu actually secretly thinks El-Rufai turns rotten situations into bad ones but only unconsciously revealed it in an unguarded moment.
So, he's apologizing for betraying the negative thoughts he has about El-Rufai that he'd successfully suppressed before now! Hmm.
And Atiku, too!
PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar had his own "emi lokan" moment in Kaduna today🤣. He reportedly told members of the Northern Elders Forum in Kaduna that northerners need him, not a Yoruba or Igbo candidate. That's reckless ethnic baiting. They're all the same.
Ononuga is just being economical with the truth. Tinubu bailed his moribund "The News" with humongous cash. Since then, the journalistic vibrancy took a detour. That's despicable of him.
